Cycling for all

We showed special film at our monthly meeting in July. Produced by Jay Sillence and featuring his dad Mervyn,  it was all about their recent adapted cycling adventure.

So now we've arranged a taster session for people to try out adapted bikes and trikes for themselves. Jay and Mervyn will be joined by Paula Hall from the York-based Get Cycling project and Parkinson’s physio Maria Liversidge.

Friday 8 August at 2pm is the date, York University Sports Village, East Campus is the place. Just come along or email us for more info. Hope to see you there!

Email us at info@yorkparkinsons.co.uk for more details.

Can you help our committee?

We need people to help run the branch. Could you take up a committee role, such as membership secretary? Or perhaps you could shadow one of our committee members and help out with their work. Or maybe you could simply volunteer for one-off projects. Any time you can spare will be a big help to keep our branch doing all the activities we offer in support of our members. Email us at info@yorkparkinsons.co.uk if you'd like to have a chat about what you might be able to offer.

Anyone for table tennis?

Our new table tennis sessions are fun and good exercise. Come along and give it a try! Thursdays 1pm - 3pm at Red Goat Gym, Layerthorpe. Or message Andrew on 07377 046050 or email info@yorkparkinsons.co.uk for more info.

About us

York Branch is part of the Parkinson’s UK national charity, which is here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

We’re a friendly community of people, based in York and the surrounding area.

Our branch:

• Supports people with Parkinson’s - and their family and friends

• Offers friendship and a meeting point

• Offers a range of classes and activities for fun and therapy.

We help to change attitudes too. Our branch raises public awareness of Parkinson’s through:

• Fundraising events

• Presence at other types of events

• Liaison with NHS and other organisations.

Our fundraising allows us to host a range of classes and events for our members. And it contributes to Parkinson’s UK national and international research towards treatments and eventually a cure.
